Welcome to AICAHK's latest newsletter! Hong Kong's summer exhibitions are in full swing and recommended are The Hong Kong Museum of Art's fragrance exhibition with stellar loans from the Shanghai Museum. In Wong Chuk Hang, Blindspot Gallery's summer video exhibition is now screening; and Rossi & Rossi presents Reo Ma's mixed media sculpture, with the artist exhibiting from the street into his first solo gallery exhibition. Currently at JCCAC in Shep Kip Mei, Lumenvisum's South Asia photobook exhibition is excellent, as is Andio Lai's self-exploration-as-exhibition of his sound, photography and animation experiments at Floating Projects.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District, which includes the M+ museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, has just rebranded itself as WestK. This is an improvement on the bureaucratic mouthful of "West Kowloon Cultural District", but also similar to Shanghai's West Bund (which is undergoing demolition) and the art-themed commercial shopping malls called K11, found around China. At the end of the month, Tai Kwun Contemporary will hold its annual art book fair.
